Wander

I consider myself somewhat of an adventurer. I’ve been lucky enough to experience quite a few alleged adventures with some eager friends. Adventures are great; we get to experience new and exciting things, and we meet interesting people along the way. In my opinion, the best part of any adventure is being out of your comfort zone. Whether it’s just a little bit out of our comfort zone, or completely removed from it entirely. It’s scary, it’s invigorating, it’s uncertain, and it’s exciting. It’s growth, it’s fun, and it’s something everyone should try.

However, life seems to be the grandest adventure of all. We often overlook how insanely epic life can be when we get caught up in all the mundane activities of life. U2 sing a song called “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. The song speaks about searching, how sometimes we can do these great things, and still be looking for something more. Sometimes we feel like Bono in the song, we seem to be wandering around, waiting for the next adventure.

God sometimes puts us on crazy paths and expects us to follow the path. No matter how scary it will probably be. In Joshua 1:9 it says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” God is always with us, no matter what crazy adventure He asks us to take. God wants us to be courageous, to step out in boldness and faith.

J R R Tolkien wrote “Not all those who wander are lost”. Just because you don’t know where you are headed in life doesn’t mean you have to be lost. Sometimes God asks us to trust Him, and this can be difficult. Even though we don’t always know where we’re headed, God does. He has a plan and a will for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” This may apply to your job, and God may ask you to trust Him that you’ll find the right one. God will place you in the right job, the one that He needs you to be in. This may apply to your relationships too, and God may be asking you to trust Him with future relationships, whether it’s with a boyfriend/girlfriend or family member.

We may not know the path that God wants us to take with these aspects of our lives. Sometimes God just wants you to trust Him. He may call you to do something scary and out of your comfort zone. He may be asking you to be patient and quietly listen. He wouldn’t put you in a situation if He didn’t feel you could handle it. In fact, God knows you can, He will equip you and guide you, He will strengthen and comfort you. Have an adventure, it’ll strengthen your faith in God, and it’ll help you grow as a person.

Stay awesome everyone
